Don't forget the water savings
If you are focused on reducing energy consumption ensure you consider the potential energy savings that can be derived through water conservation.

When delivering against an energy conservation objective it is easy to overlook the potential energy savings derived from implementing water conservation measures. Broadly these savings from two sources:
Pumping
in many larger buildings the water you use is pumped through the distribution pipework, whether that be to equipment or water storage tanks, the less water you are using the less water you need to pump around the building. This reduction in pump operating hours directly translates into energy conserved.

Water heating
Alongside the savings derived from reduced pump activity significant savings can be found in reducing hot water consumption. Reducing hot water consumption results in a direct reduction in the energy required to heat the water. Meaning that both pumping and heating consumption can be avoided.

Implementation
Fortunately there are many water conservation measures that be implemented, many at no cost or low cost. Make sure to check out the water conservation measure pages to ensure you are making the most of this source of energy reduction.
