ZIP tap energy saving features
Marginal gains are key to continuing to reduce your energy consumption, no reduction measure, available to you at no or low cost should be overlooked.

Zip taps, more broadly all manufacturers of water dispensers not just Zip taps, are becoming ubiquitous in commercial office environments. Typically they have in-built energy saving features which can be enabled to reduce their energy consumption, invariably when first installed these are not activated, leading to energy wastage. In this ECM we reference the specific features found in Zip taps, should you have units from alternate manufacturers it is certainly worth reviewing the user manual to identify the features that are available to you.

Sleep mode
After a pre-defined period of inactivity or when the tap senses that the office has become dark a range of options are programmable as to how it will conserve energy, which can either impact just the hot water or just the cold water or both. An example of the options would be the tap switching to a lower temperature at which hot water will be stored (68O) or allowing the hot water to reduce all the way to ambient room temperature. Sleep mode is exited by touching any of the controls of the tap, with a short delay before the hot water reaches full temperature.

On / Off time schedule
A programmable time schedule when both the chilled and heated water functions will turn on or off. When the unit is in the off mode operating any of the controls will switch it on automatically.

Implementation
The user manual for your product will provide step by step instructions for activating these modes, alternatively the instructions can be found on the zipwater.com website.
